Dorothy "Jean" Pigott slipped into the arms of her Savior on April 15, 2025, in Friendswood, Texas. She was born July 27, 1933, in Amite County to Fred Hughey and Elma Carraway Hughey. Graveside services will be at 10:30a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, Mississippi.
She was educated in Amite County schools. In her youth, she enjoyed a large extended family, many whom she maintained a loving relationship through the years. She married Robert (Bobby) T. Pigott on June 13, 1953. She followed him in his work and eventually settled in Natchez, Mississippi where he was the manager of the Goodyear Service Store.
Jean was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She was a great cook and while living in Philadelphia, MS was awarded Cook of the Month. After moving to Natchez, she started working for Mississippi Power and Light. Following retirement, she became a Hostess at Dunleith Plantation Home in Natchez. She was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez. Jean's earthly family takes comfort in knowing she has joined with her family and loved ones who were called home before to claim their promised eternity.
In January of 2020 she moved to Friendswood, Texas and resided at Friendship Haven Nursing Home. She will be deeply missed by her son, Robert (Ted) Pigott Jr. (Rhonda) and her daughter Terri Forrester (John). She is also survived by her sister Patsy Hughey Brock (Bobby), her brother James Hughey (Judy) and sister-in-law Shirley Freeman Hughey. In addition, she is survived by nephews Kevin Sewell, Robbie Brock, Jodi Brock, Fredrick Kavanaugh, Jarrod Hughey, niece Rachel Perkins, and grandchildren Rob Pigott, Kate Henderson, John Pigott and John Mark Forrester. Jean is also survived b six great grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Pansy Hughey, Judy Sewell, Bobby Hughey, Jerry Hughey and Linda Kavanaugh. She was also preceded in death by a special brother-in-law Thomas Sewell and nephew David Hughey and his wife Marisa.
