Dorothy Jean Collins Lea passed away at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, MS on October 08, 2018. She was born in Yazoo City, MS on May 27, 1928 to Margie and Will Collins. She later moved to Magnolia, MS where she met and married James Denver Lea. They were married 63 loving years. She worked in retail clothing at Felders Fashion in Summit, MS and was an in-home caregiver to her mother for many years. Dorothy and James were devoted to each other, their children and grandchildren. Dorothy was known for her humor and quick wit, making friends at every corner in life. She had a strong passion for shopping, collecting pretty things and James was always willing to accommodate earning her the nickname, (Hollywood). She always enjoyed the fellowship of friends and family. They enjoyed gardening and traveling together. They were active members of the United Methodist Church of Magnolia, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Denver Lea, brother Willie Jewel Collins, grandson Adam Denver Lea, son-in-law Col. Wade E. Thornhill Jr., brother and sister-in-law Alton and Myrtle Lea, sister and brother-in-law Bennie Sue and Buddy Lantrip and a niece Jane Lantrip Stringer.
She is survived by her daughters Ramona Lea Thornhill, Deborah Lea and partner Renee Pickell of Brandon, MS; grandson James Collins Lea and wife Dareen Lea of St. Petersburg, FL; Great-granddaughters Ryan and Becca Lea.
Visitation is Thursday at Magnolia United Methodist Church from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM with Bro. Warren Coile officiating.. Interment will be at the Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.Pallbearers to be Rusty and Brooks Carr, Anthony Stringer, Murray Lowery, James Lea, and Jace Alford.
