Obituary

Dorothy Faye Waldon Goodwin, passed away on May 3, 2018 in east Texas where she had resided for the last 12 years. She died quietly in her sleep after a long decline with Alzheimers. Ms. Goodwin was born in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi on May 21, 1935 to Ernest and Ernestine Waldon and spent most of her life in Pike County. She was retired from the Mississippi Division of Medicaid where she worked for many years. Faye was an avid horsewoman, participating in Quarter Horse riding and racing for many years. She was an elegant dresser who took great pride in her appearance and was known for her elegant style. She was a prolific reader. Mainly she devoted her life to raising and educating her children. She was a devoted Methodist and served in many capacities in various churches in Mississippi and Texas. Her last church home was Marquez Methodist Church in Marquez, Texas where her son John Goodwin is the pastor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Connie Goodwin Pariott and a son David Anthony Goodwin. She is survived by her sister Elaine Atwood (Bill) of Houston, Texas, a son Steve Goodwin (Stacy) of McComb, a son Billy Goodwin (Kris) of McComb, a daughter René Huffman (Jay) of Donie, Texas and son the Rev. John Goodwin of Donie, Texas.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Stults (Austin), Matthew Goodwin (Sarah), Jamie Lou Goodwin all of McComb and Nathan Goodwin of Huntsville, Alabama. In addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including members of the extended Bales family in Pike and Lincoln Counties.

Visitation will be held Tuesday May 8, 2018 at Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road in Summit, MS from 11AM until services at 1PM with Rev. Dianne Woodall of the Summit United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, Ms.

Pallbearers will be Jay Huffman, Austin Stults, Bruce Bales, Nathan Goodwin, Matthew Goodwin and Kris Aune.
