Donnie "D.P."  Portland Dunaway, 84, of McComb, MS passed from this life on Monday, August 22, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. D.P. was born in Enon, MS on January 19, 1938 and was the son of Ernie Dunaway and Gertrude Greer Dunaway. He was a commercial Fisherman and supported his family by doing that. He loved his family and worked his entire life for them to have what they needed. He always had a contagious smile on his face. He enjoyed working in his yard and planting many things in his garden. He enjoyed giving to others, the things that he would grow. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the beginning of 2022 and was very proud of that. He was a loving husband, daddy, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Opal Young Dunaway; four brothers, J.W. Dunaway, Jack Dunaway, Cleavey Dunaway, and L.C. Dunaway, and one step-daughter, Opal Jean Myers.

He is survived by his two daughters, Bonita Dunaway of McComb, MS, and Lawanda Dunaway of McComb, MS; one brother, R.B. "Billy" Dunaway of McComb; five grandchildren, Jessica Whittington and Bartley, Mitchell Byrd, Jeremy Newman and Loretta, Kayla Whatley and Grant, and William Byrd and Kayla; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephew and other family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at Sharkey Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Hoss officiating.
