Don Winston
Mercier, Jr.
February 17, 1964 – May 29, 2022
Mr. Don Winston Mercier, Jr., 58, passed from this life on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 17, 1964 in McComb, MS, to Don Winston Mercier, Sr. and Marjorie Walker Mercier.
Donnie was a caring and loving person to those that he knew well. Donnie had a great sense of humor and he loved to make others laugh. As a child, Donnie was a very talented artist. His paintings were advanced for his age. Donnie loved sports, and he was especially good at baseball, making the all star teams a number of times. Donnie was a weight lifter and extremely fit until the age of 19 when he was struck with severe and debilitating mental illness. Although he was never exactly the same person, he provided our family with many joyous memories. Donnie always had love in his heart for us and would show it often. Although I, Margie, and Kevin are sad that we will no longer be able to hug our brother and tell him we love him, we are happy that he finally has peace. We know that when Christ returns, we will see him again and that he will be made new with no pain or sorrows. Thank you to all, the friends, family, and teachers that had an influence in Donnie's life, we love and appreciate you.
Preceding him in death were his parents; grandparents, Thomas and Alice Mercier, and Paul and Marjorie Walker; one infant brother, Timothy Paul Mercier; one nephew, Samuel Clayton Bozeman; one uncle, Billy Ray Brewer; and one aunt, Emily Walker Brewer.
Survivors are his two brothers, Jason Mercier and wife Clara Mercier, and Kevin Mercier; one sister, Margie King; six nephews, Gabriel Mercier, Cole Bozeman, Gabe Mercier, Landon Mercier, Winston Mercier, and Eli Mercier; two uncles, Paul S. Walker and Thomas C. Mercier; one aunt, Barbara Walker; and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
Pallbearers are Blake Brewer, Greg Ditcharo, Harley Gabriel Mercier, Brad Smith, Sha Walker, Scott Wallace and Cannon Ward.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at Sharkey Funeral Home beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow immediately at Hollywood Cemetery with Rev. Richard Root officiating. Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
