Obituary

Don Fauver, 73, of Summit, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born Saturday, July 21, 1951 in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, and on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Meadville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:00 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Brandon Blackwell will officiate. Special music will be performed by Ed May.


Don, a dedicated worker for 20 years at Georgia Pacific's Gloster Mill, he was known for his quiet humility and simple lifestyle. He was a skilled handyman, particularly with electrical work, and enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything that needed repair. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for cutting down trees and spending time with his beloved dog, Max. A man of faith, Don was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and cherished his deep connection to the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Maude Butler Fauver; two brothers, Ed Fauver Jr., Danny George Fauver; and two sisters, Annie Pearl Roberts, Betty Sue Young.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Rhonda Smith Fauver of Summit; three sons, Don T. Fauver (Carlene), of Brookhaven, Richard Smith (Misty), of Summit, Scooter Torrey (Natalie), of Busy Corner; three daughters, Jennifer Fauver Farmer (Bill), of Brookhaven, Samantha Fauver Melancon (Alan), of Brookhaven, Shena' Goodrich (Jay), of Abita Springs, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Stacie Fauver, Konnor Fauver, Corrin Smith, Rilie Torrey, Gage Torrey, Alexis Melancon, Riley Goodrich, Audrey Goodrich; his beloved dog, Max; a number of Nieces and Nephews; and a special cousin, Calvin Fauver.

Pallbearers will be Don T. Fauver, Konnor Fauver, Richard Smith, Scooter Torrey, Terry Fauver, and David Steele. Gage Torrey will be an Honorary Pallbearer.
