Mrs. Dina Milan Byrd, 93, of Summit, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at McComb Nursing and Rehab.

She was born on June 21, 1925, in Venice, Italy, to Agostino and Costantina Miglioranza Milan.

Dina was a professional seamstress who was employed by Felder's Fashions in Summit for over 25 years, as well as doing independent alterations in her home. She also was respo nsible for designing and making gowns for many pageants, including the 1997 Miss Mississippi USA pageant.
Friends also knew her as the "Italian lady" who made cheerleader and majorette costumes for Southwest Mississippi Community College, North Pike, South Pike, McComb, and Parklane Academy.

In 1980 and 1981, she was appointed by Mississippi Governor William Winter as an interpreter for the Mississippi Department of Economic Development, specifically in construction and foreign environment for European affairs.
She was a member of the Summit Garden Club for over 20 years, the Italian Cultural Society of Mississippi, and attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in McComb.

She loved to work in her yard and was especially adapt at raising beautiful flowers, her pride and joy.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Berry L. "Sonny" Byrd; mother and father-in-law, Beatrice and Abraham Kalif; three brothers, Giovanni, Aldo, and Mario Milan; two sisters, Norma and Maria Milan; and a special cat named Pretty, who loved to sit in her warm lap.

Survivors are children, Steve Byrd and Kiki Byrd of Summit, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Sharkey Funeral Home ,1023 Old Brookhaven Road in Summit, MS, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and continues Thursday, April 4, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in McComb from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM funeral mass with Father Brian Kaskie officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit.

Pallbearers are Daryl Brock, Steve Brock, A.J. Freeman, Will Gunnell, Rick Penick and Ray Pettigrew.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and CNAs of McComb Nursing and Rehab and Nursing Home Director, Rhonda Smith.
