Diane P. Brumfield, 99, of the Silver Creek community in Pike County, passed away, Tuesday, March 21 2017 at her residence. She was born February 18, 1918 in New Orleans, LA. She was the daughter of Junius Hart Payne and Emma LeCorgne Payne. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith and attended church in Baton Rouge and served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She loved doing volunteer work in and out of the church. She and her family moved to Mississippi and later returned to New Orleans where she retired in 1983 as a social worker for the Louisiana Department of Social Services having helped families of A.D.C. After retirement she returned to Mississippi. She was an avid reader, loved to cross stitch and crochet. She loved to travel and following her retirement she took numerous trips at home and abroad. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Janet Gay Brumfield; one son, John H. Brumfield; her only brother, Junius Hart Payne, Jr. and a son-in-law, Robert Ginn. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Mead Brumfield and Pat of the Silver Creek community; three daughters and sons-in-law, Meadette Amos and Gary of Houston, TX, Gwen Ginn of Mesa, AZ and Carol M. Breland and Tony of the Silver Creek community; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Brumfield of Birmingham, AL; ten grandchildren; numerous great -grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her residence at 4037 Progress-Lexie Road, Tylertown, MS 39667 at 2PM with Rev. Jimmy Smith and Rev. Lloyd Thompson officiating. Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit is in charge of arrangements.
