Obituary

Mr. David Earl Williamson went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 1, 2025. He passed away peacefully at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 18, 1944, in Bogue Chitto, MS, to Ophelia Lester Nickels and Ilance Williamson.

A visitation will be held at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church in Summit, MS, on October 8th beginning at 9 until time of service at 11 with Bro. Alvin Lyons officiating.

He was a member of Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church. Faith and family were very important to him. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather. He delighted in his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing with them and giving into their every whim.

David was well known for his athleticism. In his younger years, he traveled the country playing on a men's fast pitch softball team. He also enjoyed golf and bowling, winning many trophies throughout the years.

David had a strong work ethic. In 1971 he started his own business, Williamson Tire and Muffler in Summit. After retiring in 1993, he picked up gardening as a fun and relaxing hobby. Within a few years, Williamson Nursery was born. He and Brenda enjoyed working alongside each other until retiring a second time in 2010.

Most importantly, David's life paints a beautiful picture of the redeeming love of his Savior. In 1998, his life was transformed when he embraced a relationship with Jesus Christ, this decision was not merely a change of heart but a complete redirection of his path, and he bore witness to it through his actions every day. His testimony of redemption was a source of hope for many.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sons, Keith Williamson, Todd Williamson; sisters, Molly Sue Williamson, Margie Kimble; and brothers, Billy Jo Williamson, Jimmy Williamson.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Brenda; daughter, Suzy Mercier (Brian); grandchildren, Heather Johnston (Justin), Justin Mercier (Amber), Sara Mercier (Cooper), Noah Williamson, Molly Williamson; great grandchildren, Jase Johnston, Camden Mercier, Landon Mercier, Rhett Johnston, Justin David Mercier, Fayth Barlow, HaileyAnna Barlow; and a host of family and friends.
