Dr. Dave Hartson, III, 70, of Magnolia, MS passed from this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Beacham Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 13, 1952 in New Orleans, LA to Dave Hartson II and Goldie Mourain Hartson.

He is well known for serving as the pastor at Bala Chitto Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS for nearly 30 years. He also served as the assistant treasurer for Pike Baptist Association for 25 years. The last 13 years he served as the Drug Court Counselor for Pike Juvenile Drug Court. His Doctorate in Psychology and his heart for ministry allowed him to fulfill that position. He also had a private psychology practice for many years. If you knew him, you loved him. He never met a stranger. He was beloved by all and will be dearly missed.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Gary Hartson.

Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Anne Hartson; one sister, Peggy Rice; one brother, Eddie Hartson (Kathy); one sister-in-law, Susan McDonald (Wayne); numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers are Dale Coon, Ronnie Love, Jeremy Harman, Obie Simmons, Jerry Rhodus, and Mike Spears.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Hartson, Al Robinson, Joe Lally, Toxie Schmidt, James Boyd, and Bert Schenk.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS beginning at 10AM until time of service at 1PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Simmons Cemetery in Magnolia, MS with Bro. Greg Whitehead and Bro. Brett Martin officiating.
