"Kirk" Kirkland, Jr.
May 17, 1940 – September 9, 2022
Claude Louis (Kirk) Kirkland Jr. age 82 passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, at UMMC from injuries he received in an automobile accident. He was born on May 17, 1940 in Philadelphia, MS to Claude Louis Kirkland Sr. and Audie Barrier Kirkland.
Kirk moved to Jackson, MS and became a well-accomplished Hair Stylist winning the State of Mississippi Sculptur Cut Championship followed by the 1970 Sculptur Cut Champion of the USA. He worked in downtown Jackson most of his adult life and later moved to Summit, MS. He was well known in the Hair Replacement Industry.
Kirk loved to work with his hands. He was a talented carpenter. Rebuilt trucks from the bottom up. Loved racing cars and riding enduro motorcycles. Loved being involved in his son Louis's motorcycle and sprint car racing.
Kirk loved to talk to anyone and everyone about his study of the Bible. He was passionate about it and wrote several books about those studies. He did research on the Kirkland family and Barrier family ancestry and was a published author of that research.
Kirk is survived by his son Louis Kirkland (Brenda) and daughter Lisa McFadden(Jim),6 stepchildren , 4 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren .
A celebration of Kirk's life will be held Thursday September 15. There will be a visitation at 10AM and the service will follow at 11AM at Apostolic Faith Church, 6706 S. Siwell Road in Byram, MS.
