Clarence Walter "C. W." Cook, of Magnolia, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at Camellia Estates Assisted Living Facility in McComb. He was 89 years old.
Mr. Cook was born in Magnolia, MS on February 25, 1932 to the late Morris and Estelle Lenoir Cook. He is preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Lawson, a brother, Hubert Cook and a daughter, Nena Kay Cook Crabtree.
He was an eagle scout in the 1940's. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He received basic training in Ft. Rooker, Alabama. Then he was transferred to Long Island, New York where he was trained as a radar operator in the 505 Triple A Missile Battalion. He was stationed for two years as part of New York City's defense as a U S Army corporal.
Mr. Cook was employed with the U. S. Postal Service in Magnolia, MS for 45 years where he served as a postal clerk and a rural mail carrier. He loved his customers on his rural mail route and took so much pride in serving them.
Mr. Cook was a lifelong member of Terry's Creek Baptist Church where he served on the counting committee and was an usher for many years.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 67 years, JoAnn Conerly Cook; three daughters, Cathy Cook of Woodstock, Georgia; Anna Evans and husband Phil of Magnolia; and Amy Caviness of Seal Beach, California; one sister, Donis Cook Sarphie; grandchildren April Kelley (Chris); Christopher Davis (Hannah); Rebecca Collette (Sergio); Jessica Whitley (James); Sarah Rabalais (Brad); Leah Templeton (Michael); Angelica Pratt (Zack); Catherine Myers (Thomas), and Cami Dahmer of Slidell, LA; great-grandchildren Avery Nicole Kelley; Sloane and Grey Collette; Britten and Bronson Whitley; Brayden Bordelon and Peyton and Ashlyn Dahmer; June, Blake, Laine and Sophia Rabalais.
A visitation will be held beginning at 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Terry's Creek Baptist Church on Monday, November 8, 2021. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Christopher Davis, Brad Rabalais, Alan McDaniel, Billy Lee, Tim King and Johnny Easley.
Honorary pallbearers are Phil Evans, Michael Templeton, Bobby McDaniel, Shelby Prestridge, Lee Barkdull, Don McDaniel, Lewis Wallace, Victor Bankston, and Bobby Easley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Baptist Children's Village
The family wishes to thank the staff of Camellia Estates for the exceptional care given to C. W. during his time there. Special thanks also to the staff of Hospice Compassus for their wonderful care.
