Mrs. Charlene Dunaway, 76, of Jayess, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 19, 1946 in Pike County, MS, to Herman Cothern and Ruby Geneva Dunaway Cothern.

Mrs. Charlene had a special affection for dogs. She gave of herself and was well known for cooking meals and providing care for the entire community.  She was a loving wife and mother to everyone, not only her children. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Douglas Dunaway; and one son, Robbie Dunaway.

She is survived by two sons, Joey Dunaway and Tommy Dunaway; one daughter, Misty Woodard; eight grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Pallbearers are James Ard, Jeanie Estelle, James Estelle, Trey Cupit, Cory Cupit, and Charles Cupit.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Coon and Vernon Alexander.

A graveside visitation will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022, beginning at 2:30 PM until time of graveside service at 3:00 PM at Cothern Cemetery in Jayess, MS. Bro. Mike Alexander will officiate with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of services.
