Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Jean Adams Johnston, 91, of Summit, MS, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Aston Court Retirement Facility in McComb, MS.

Mrs. Jean was born in Amite County, MS on November 12, 1929 and was the daughter of Quincy Leon Adams and Jewel Weathersby Adams. She was a member of West McComb Baptist Church in McComb, MS and enjoyed doing mission work with her husband and the Baptist Association. She was a bookkeeper for Kellwood Company and Magnolia Medical Clinic. She was also a sales person at Traditional Jewelry. She was a member of the Sunnyhill Club, Yesterday's Kids and a previous member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She wrote several children's stories and was a self- published author of a children's book, "A Breakfast Adventure". She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Her passion was plants and gardening and loved to grow flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Quincy Leon "Sonny" Adams, Jr.; three sisters, Dean Cutrer, Jewel "BeBe" Taylor, and Addie Lee Fortenberry, and one grandson, Michael Harwell.

She is survived by one son, Robbie Cook, originally from McComb, MS; one daughter, Jeannie Harwell and Walter of Upstate, New York; her husband, Floyd Johnston of Summit, MS and his children, Vic Johnston and Sharon, Greg Johnston and Vickie, and Alisa Brashear and Russ; two brothers, Robert Dan Adams, and Glen Adams and Lois; two sisters, her twin, Joy Roy, and Glenda "Sissy" Parker and Wayne, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 9AM until time of service at 11AM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with Pastor Ron Hildago officiating. A burial will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithdale, MS
