Burton B. Boyd, Sr., 70, of Pricedale, passed away, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. He was born September 24, 1946 in Pike County. He was the son of Jesse B. and Rena Bell Hux Boyd. He was retired from Illinois Central Railroad where he worked as a blacksmith. He was a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter's Creek. He was a member of Pine Lodge # 383 F&AM in Enon and served in the Mississippi National Guard. Mr. Boyd enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hunting and especially listening to his beagles running rabbits. He also enjoyed raising baby calves. He loved to garden, and even after losing his legs, he continued gardening on his motorized scooter and loved sharing his harvest with his friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, David Griffin; sister, Kay Howell Hutson; brothers-in-law, Miller Howell, James Hutson and Elwin Pray Hewitt and great niece, Candace "Candy" Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Brown Boyd of Pricedale; his son and daughter-in-law, Burton B. Boyd, Jr. and Judy of Summit; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Ashley Stroud of Brandon, Mike and Leslie Stroud of Hernando, MS and Jack and Jackie Watkins of Magnolia; two stepdaughters, Robin Fulgham and Julia Carruth of Smithdale; one brother and sister-in-law, Bennie and Mabel Boyd of Blue Ridge, TX; two sisters, Georgia Hewitt of Summit and Jessie Lee Boyd of Jackson, TN; special friend, Thomas Love of Felder's Campground; two grandchildren, Brandon Boyd of Brandon and Cassi "Boyd" Nobles and husband, Mike of McComb; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Nobles; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren;numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved pets, Cricket and Prissy. Visitation is Saturday at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter's Creek from 9:30AM until services at 12noon with Rev. Mike Morris and Rev. Justin Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Boyd cemetery.
