Betty Huntley Lyons O'Rourke went to Jesus May 3, 2017. She was born November 13, 1927 in Sydney, Australia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Friends are invited to gather at the Church beginning at 10:15 a.m. The Holy Rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. followed by Holy Mass at 11 a.m. Following Mass, the family will proceed to the graveside. Friends, as well as those unable to attend Mass, are invited to join the family for fellowship and lunch at Liguori Hall, next to the Church on 5th Street, immediately following the Mass. Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Sidney and Edna Beverley Huntley, and her previous husband William G. Lyons. She is survived by her husband of 14 years James Michael O'Rourke, Jr, of McComb, and a son, David Lyons of Jackson. Many folks have called Betty a classy lady. She was a shopper's shopper and a delight to shop with. She was also an expert knitter. From austere hardships of Australia in World War II, she became a distinguished lady in Atlanta and McComb. She retired as a secretary with the Georgia Legislature. She was a member of the McComb Lion's Club (honored as a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow), Knutty Knitters of Pike County, Flowers Lovers Club, Mississippi Master Gardeners, and Four Seasons.
