Betty Jo
Greer
January 25, 1945 – January 27, 2022
Mrs. Betty Jo Greer, 77, of McComb, MS, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Mrs. Betty was born in Natchez, MS on January 25, 1945 and was the daughter of Hilton May and Marie Adams May. Her life from birth seemed to be filled with many challenges, but she always found the light in the darkest of times. She was a true fighter and had a heart of gold. She lived her life by loving all those around her and to the grandest level. Her family meant everything to her and she loved them immensely. You could always find her dressed up in make-up, red lipstick, and jewels, even if she had nowhere to go. She loved being pretty, and she did it to the grandest level. She loved shopping with her daughter at thrift stores and could spot one a mile away. She truly left this world having made it better and instilled her many great attributes in us. She made many friends and had many conversations at McComb Nursing and Rehab, which became her happy place for the past 9 years. She looked forward to Bingo there daily and would be quick to call her daughter and tell her if she won or lost or if she thought someone cheated. There, she was loved by everyone and was such an inspiration to so many other residents with whom she shared her love of Christ and her salvation. Her Happiest place was with family at home and the Lord blessed to spend her final days there. She was filled with more memories than she had in a long time of visits by her loved ones, pictures, videos, laughs and endless conversations because her mind and memory was still so sharp. She truly will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Just a couple of days before her death, she told her daughter, "Don't cry for me when I'm gone, but rejoice, celebrate, put on some Elvis Presley songs, and dance", for she is truly dancing with the angels now.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Wiley "Bobby" Greer, and one brother, James May.
She is survived by one son, Brad Greer of Batesville, MS; one daughter, Lee Ann Cunningham of Summit, MS; one grandson, Adam Keene of Brookhaven, MS; three great- grandchildren, Austin Keene, Bentlee Keene, and Jonah Keene all of McComb, MS, and other extended family.
Pallbearers will be Adam Keene, Brad Greer, Jimmy May, Ed May, Bentlee Keene, and Chris Thomas.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 12PM until time of service at 2PM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with Bro. Rick Kennedy officiating. A burial will follow in the Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery in Summit, MS.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to McComb Nursing and Rehab for the love and care given to her and to her church family at New Heights Baptist Church for the many cards, phone calls, and visits throughout the years.
