Betty Carol Cothern, 62 of Taylorsville, MS, passed away, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Merit Health Central in Jackson, MS

She was born June 9, 1956 in Jackson, MS to Leroy and Opal Burnett Cothern of the Enon community in Walthall County.

She was a past participant in Special Olympics and once,  had the honor of attending the International Special Olympics in New York.  She loved playing card games and working small puzzles.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Michael Cothern; a sister, Debbie Sumrall; a niece, Jessica Renee Sumrall ; grandparents, Cazzie Cothern and Bennie Mae Lawrence Cothern and maternal grandparents, Estel Burnett and Addie Lee Gulledge Burnett

She is survived by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Traci Cothern of Terry; a brother-in-law, Clifford Sumrall of Florence; her nephew, Shan Michael Cothern; her niece Addie Marie Cothern; both of Terry and numerous friends at  the Autumn Ridge Group Home.

Visitation is Saturday at Enon Baptist Church from 10AM until services at 11 AM with Dr. David Millican officiating.  Burial will follow in Enon cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to Enon Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 1449 MS-583, Jayess, MS 39641.
