Bessie Jean Stockton Reeves, 96, of Summit, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Bessie was born in Lincoln County, MS on May 31, 1925 to Henry David Stockton, Jr. and Vannie Bell Johnston Stockton. She was a member of Johnston Station Baptist Church. She became a member in 1959. She was also a member of Ruth Sunday School class. She loved to cook and make quilts, and give them to her family – a mother that loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Henry Reeves, Jr. of 75 years; one brother, Henry David Stockton, Jr. – (Hilda), three sisters, Aline Stockton, Norma Cobb- (T.G.), and Eunice Ratcliff – (Willie), and one grandson, Cory Hart.
She is survived by one son, James Russell Reeves and wife, Patsy; three daughters, Martha Dillon and husband, James, Dorothy Duckworth and husband, Jim, and Planas and husband, Oswald; eight grandchildren, Ginger Lowhorn, Kim Sisco, Colette Sanford, Brooke Beard, Rus Reeves, Jeffery Reeves, Heather Hart, and Lori Hart, nine great-grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be John Lowhorn, Piker Ratliff, Gage Beard, Russ Reeves, Jeff Reeves, Craig Beard, Jacob Sanford, and Chad Sanford.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 12:30PM until 1:30PM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS followed by a graveside service at 2PM at Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County, MS with Bro. Glenn Bird and Bro. Rick Kennedy officiating.
If you choose not to send flowers, donations may be made in her name to Johnston Station Baptist Church.
