Mrs. Barbara W. Smith, 66, of McComb, MS, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at her residence in McComb.
Mrs. Barbara was born in Biloxi, MS on November 9, 1955 and was the daughter of John Wolbrecht and Evelyn Williams Wolbrecht. She was a lifetime member of New Heights Baptist Church. She was very involved in the community in many different organizations which focused on working with the handicapped and under privileged in our area. She owned and operated Barbara's Studio of Dance for 25 plus years where she spent many hours choreographing dance routines for her students, which was her true passion. She had a competition group called "Showcase Performers" that performed and competed all over. She was the first dance teacher in our area to take her dancers and travel to compete, perform and to take classes under some of the top instructors in the US. During her years as a dance teacher, she and her competition team traveled and performed in places such as, New York, Dallas, TX, Disney World, Universal Studios, The Big Red Boat and so many others. She absolutely loved to travel and she was always thinking of where she could travel to next. Once a year, she made sure to get her whole family together to go on a vacation. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved her family more than anything. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Smith, and one son-in-law, Robbie Robinson.
She is survived by two daughters, Missi Robinson of McComb, MS, and Rhonda Merrifield and Josh of McComb, MS; two brothers, Ricky Wolbrecht and Peggy of Vancleave, MS, and John Wolbrecht and Dena of Pearl, MS; six grandchildren, Brittany Forman and Christopher, Tyler Robinson, Jeremy McCoy and Mary, Jacob McCoy, Kendellynn Phillips, and Kyle Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Grayson Forman, Mavery Forman, and Trace McCoy, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Robinson, Jeremy McCoy, Josh Merrifield, Mike Alexander, Jacob McCoy, and Kyle Phillips.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 5:30PM until 8PM and continue on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 11AM until time of service at 12PM at New Heights Baptist Church in Summit, MS with Bro. Rick Kennedy officiating and Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
