Barbara J. Peterson, 82, a resident of Smithdale, died September 12 at McComb Nursing and Rehab. She was born August 7, 1935 in Greenwood, MS. She was the daughter of Elder Alton and Vera Walker Wilkinson. She was a life-long member of Siloam Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Larry Peterson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved them all greatly. Her love for cooking led her to cook for many church occasions and other people. An encouraging spirit to all she knew. Mrs. Peterson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, brother: Clarence Wilkinson: brothers-in-law, Jerry Steele and Lyndon Cash. She is survived by three daughters and sons -in-law: Debbie and Jim Partin of Branson, MO, Nina and Stan Allred of Smithdale, MS and Linda and Mike Weeks of Batesville, AR; two sisters: Nadine Steele of Magee, MS and Jeanette Cash of Lyford, TX; six grandchildren and spouses: Corey Partin, Brad and Jennifer Partin, Margeaux and Luke Wagganer, Megan and Patrick Bell, Katie Allred and Trent and Anna Weeks; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation is Friday at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS from 6:00 P M until 8:00 P M and continues Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church in Meadville, MS from 10:00 A M until services at 11:00 A M with Rev. Leon Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
