Arma Sue
Cornwell
December 11, 1929 – September 8, 2022
Arma "Sue" Rundell Cornwell, 92, a resident of Summit, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, after months of failing health. She was born on December 11, 1929, in Delhi, LA, to the late D. P. and Helen Rundell.
On April 24, 1947, she married the love of her life, M. V. Cornwell and she said it was also another way to get out of algebra class. The following day, her parents drove them to Natchez, MS, left them with no car and only a small amount of funds, but a lot of love for each other. He found work in the oilfield while there, and then they moved to Colorado City, TX and worked the oil fields there for three years, before moving their family back to Delhi.
In 1962, they had the opportunity to move to McComb, MS or Houma, LA, and M.V. chose McComb to finish raising their small family and start a new chapter in their lives forming Cornwell Well Service, where they worked side by side for many years. They were partners in all they did from hunting, fishing to golf.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Summit, where she helped with the Wednesday night suppers and always enjoyed the fellowship she had with those at church.
Heaven is a little sweeter today, as she met her parents, D. P. and Helen Rundell and step-mother, Clotee Rundell, her beloved late husband, Martin V. (M.V.) Cornwell, her son, Martin V. (Marty) Cornwell, Jr., daughter-in-law, Gayle Cornwell and granddaughter, Rami Lynn Davis.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Davis of Summit, one special son, David Travis, and two grandsons, Cutter Cornwell of Summit and Cody Cornwell of Hattiesburg, two brothers and their wives, Lanny Rundell (Polly) of Winnsboro, LA and Dan Rundell (Dolores) of Start, LA. and honorary family member, Doris Robinzine of Summit, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, that survive her.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to: O'Zion Baptist Church – Building Fund, 4775 Berrytown Rd. SE, Meadville, MS 39653 or PALS Rescue, 1071 Marks Road, McComb, MS 39648.
