Mrs. Anna Dean Golmon, 86, of Smithdale, MS passed from this life on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Camelia Estates in McComb, MS. She was born on September 1, 1936 in Port Arthur, TX, to John Oliver and Mary Delino Oliver.
Dean was well known for her 20 years of service at Day Motors/Peterbilt of McComb. She also worked as a personal secretary to Mr. Charles Day during her time there. She was "Big Mama" to all of her co-workers who viewed her as the office nurse, counselor, chef, and detective. She was always well dressed and her hair was going to be fixed and in place. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and always wanted to make sure that there were fresh brownies and cookies when they came to visit.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Buford Golmon; one daughter, Charlotte Webb Carrier; one brother, Buddy Oliver; and two grandsons, Curtis Smith and Josh Golmon.
She is survived by two daughters, Renae Williams (Jim) and Ann Sharp (Eldridge); one son, Mark Golmon (Anita); one sister, Janice Hollis (Larry); one brother, Terry Oliver (Pat); one sister-in-law, Dodie Oliver; six grandchildren, Michelle Leblanc, Bridgette Smith, Jacob Golmon (Chelsea), Morgan Golmon, Logan Sharp, and Tanner Sharp; eight great grandchildren; longtime friend, Tommy Nylin; honorary grandchildren, Travis Ann Nylin, Taylor Ann Nylin, James Lee Westbrook, as well as their children; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Pallbearers are Jacob Golmon, Morgan Golmon, Logan Sharp, Tanner Sharp, James Westbrook, and Lamar McKenzie.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS beginning at 5PM until 7PM. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery beginning at 10AM with Dr. David Millican officiating.
