Funeral services for Alvin C. Sandifer will be on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter's Creek at 11:00 AM with graveside services to follow at Reeves Cemetery. Bro. Justin Morgan and Bro. Jimmy Houston will be officiating the services with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Sharkey Funeral Home on Friday, July 7, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter's Creek on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. Mr. Sandifer, 94, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his residence in Magnolia, MS. He was born March 11, 1923, in Walthall County, MS, to Needham and Lela Dunaway Sandifer. He was a retired supervisor for McMillan Blodell in Magnolia, MS, and was a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church at Carter's Creek, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a wonderful Christian man and role model to his family and friends. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death were his loving wife of 70 years, Julia Sandifer; parents, Needham and Lela Dunaway Sandifer; son, Aubrey Lee Sandifer; sisters, Dortha Sandifer, Norma Sandifer Howell, and Eva Mae Sandifer Martin; brothers, Alcus Sandifer and Vance Sandifer; granddaughter, Teresa Sandifer; and great-grandson, Aubrey "Bree" Sandifer. Survivors are his daughter, Dorothy Sandifer Evans and husband Bernie of Magnolia, MS; daughter-in-law, Betty Foreman Sandifer of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, Robert Hopkins and wife Pam, Tracy Sandifer, Dale Sandifer and wife Robbie; great-grandchildren, Alana Fleming, Luke Hopkins, Jesse Yates, Cheyanne Sandifer, Jessica Sandifer; brothers, Vertice Sandifer and wife Sarah, Davis Sandifer and wife Lettie, Harold Sandifer and wife Edith, and Glen Sandifer and wife Altie; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers: Janice Dillon, Kathy Gatlin and Lucy White.
