Obituary

Mr. Alfred "A.D." Boone, 96, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at his daughter's home in Lincoln County, MS. He was born on December 28, 1920, in Jayess, MS, to Claude and Gertrude McGuffee Boone. He was a member of Lifepointe Community Church of the Nazarene; served his country in the US Army in World War II; earned his BS degree in music from Trevecca Nazarene College; worked for many years as a barber and as a minister of music; and enjoyed music and spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving son, husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude and Gertrude McGuffee Boone; wife, Lola J. Baskette Boone; 3 sisters, Claudine Boone Ainsworth, Kathryn Boone Sullivan and Jeannette Boone Johnson; 5 brothers, Harley Boone, Winston "Buck" Boone, Clyde Boone, Rev. Ford Boone and Rev. Richard Boone; and niece, Debbie Boone. Survivors are his daughters, Cindy Boone Myers and husband Eddy of Smithdale, MS, and Annie Jenny Boone of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Lisa Myers Prestridge and husband Lance, and LeAnna Myers Gennaro and husband Trey; great-grandchildren, Chase and Sawyer Prestridge; brother, Algie Boone of McComb, MS; sister, Dot Boone Hightower of McComb, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be at Lifepointe Community Church of the Nazarene in McComb, MS, on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Bro. Matthew Emfinger and Bro. Michael Ford officiating. The graveside service will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers are Ricky Boone, Conner Boone, Ronnie Boone, Kade Boone, Kelvin Boone and Zach Tillman. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Deaconess Hospice and the numerous sitters who cared for him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mr. Boone's name to the Lifepointe Church of the Nazarene, 312 W Presley Blvd, McComb, MS 39648.
