April 12, 1942 – July 10, 2022
Abe L. Reeves, 80, passed Sunday, July 10, quietly at his home in the Friendship community of McComb, MS with his family surrounding him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at Terry's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery beginning at 9:30 until time of graveside service at 10:00. Bro. Laverne Summerlin will officiate with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Abe, a lifelong resident of Friendship community, was born April 12, 1942, to A.C. and Virgie Reeves. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church until later in life when he joined New Heights Baptist Church after the grandkids came along.
He served in the MS National Guard for 6 years. He had extensive careers as a Coca-Cola and Browns Velvet Ice Cream deliveryman but was best known as a MEPA meter reader until he retired and became "the watermelon man."
An avid farmer and cattleman, Mr. Abe spent most of his free time at the sale barn and on a tractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Earl Reeves; two sisters, Sybil Reeves Brown and Grace Reeves Maroney; and brother-in-law, Dave Maroney.
He is survived by his wife, Dot Williams Reeves; one son, Jason Reeves and wife Christy; one daughter, Tammy Reeves Wells and husband Nathan; three brothers-in-law, Bobby Brown, Bobby Williams and Sarah, and Wendell Williams and Connie; six grandkids, Brooke, Taylor, and Jonathan Wells, Kaden, Kylen, and Jaylee Reeves; two nephews, Michael Reeves and Rusty Reeves; and one niece, Julie Kennedy and husband Mark, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Jason Reeves, Nathan Wells, Kaden Reeves, Kylen Reeves, Jonathan Wells, Michael Reeves, and Mark Kennedy.
