Julia Lee Nickles

Julia Lee Nickles, 92, of Jayess, passed away, Monday, July 9, 2018 at her residence.

She was born February 12, 1926 in Amite County, MS. She was the daughter of Willie and Jennie Lansdell Hamilton.

She was a homemaker. She attended Oakdale School and was a longtime member of New Heights Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Korsage "Gus" Nickles; one son, Ronald James Nickles; son-in-law, James Raymond Holden; one brother, William "Dub" Hamilton and her sister, Elizabeth Causey.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Louise Nickles of Jayess; her daughter, Janice Holden of Hammond, LA; three brothers, Emmitt Hamilton and Bobby Hamilton of McComb and James Hamilton and wife, Brenda of Osyka ; her sister, Helen Nickles of Wrentham, MA; six grandchildren, Joseph Holden and James Holden of Amite, LA, Shelley Nickles of McComb, Kevin Nickles of Denham Springs, Ryan Nickles of Natchez and Stephen Nickles of Wesson; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Wednesday at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666 from 5PM until 8PM and continues Thursday at New Heights Baptist Church from 1PM until services at 2PM with Bro. Rick Kennedy and Bro. Lee Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Reeves Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Holden, James Holden, Kevin Nickles, Ryan Nickles, Stephen Nickles, Peyton Nickles and Josh Holden.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke's Hospice for their loving care and especially, a special thank you to Shelly King.
